Once upon a time in a magical land far far away there lived a King and his three beautiful daughters. The youngest and most enchanting Princess slept in the tallest turret of the palace with her two charming little dogs, Honeybear and Boosie.

Sadly, shortly after the birth of the third Princess, the cold hearted Queen, her mother, had fled into the arms of the flirty Baron Conserve, leaving the King broken hearted.

To ensure his daughters would stay for ever by his side the King passed a law which allowed them to court only the local village idiots. This way he could be sure they would never find true loves first kiss and leave him broken hearted once more.

Knowing that all the eligible Princes in the land of fabulousness had ridden to far away places to slay dragons and rescue damsels, the King felt safe in the knowledge that no Prince would return to challenge his law and claim the hand of one of his daughters in marriage.

The youngest Princess suffered the advances of one fool in particular for five years. Each night as she stood on her balcony she wished by the dazzling stars above that Prince Curtis, who she had danced with in her dreams, would wake her at the stroke of midnight with true loves first kiss, as only a Prince can do.

The Princess was worried, not because she thought Prince Curtis did not exist, for she knew dreams do indeed come true, nor did she think she would be married off to the village fool. She had a problem. It was impossible to be fast asleep at midnight, the only stroke on the clock when a real Princess can be rescued. This was due to her delightful diva pooches, who were more than a little demanding.

Off her gilded bed they would leap many times a night, each time pawing at the coral silk drapes, insistent on being lifted back up again as their tiny furry limbs were just too short for the high jump.

One night throwing her hands up and shrieking in despair, the Princess could stand it no longer. Hearing her cries the middle princess rushed into her room and was ordered to fetch parchment, a flamingo feather and gold ink at once, where-upon the Princess penned a letter to François, woodcarver to the royals, demanding that a set of stairs, more exquisite than anything ever seen before, be created using the rarest and most beautiful materials as befitted the most precious paws.

The glorious steps arrived one week later and were placed against the gold four poster bed - up and down the doggy divas ran. That night the Princess and her pooches slumbered more soundly than ever before.

Wonderfully, at the stroke of midnight, the Princess was awakened by true loves first kiss. Opening her eyes she stared into the handsome face of her own Prince Curtis. Her dreams had come true.

Prince Curtis lifted her, the divas and of course the steps, as they were far too fabulous to be left behind, onto his white stallion. Together they rode away under the brilliant stars towards his glittering castle to live happily ever after.

The End
